Emerson's GenAI Automation Revolutionizes Power and Water Industries with Powerful New Tool

The platform will offer predictive guidance and suggest suitable courses of action to boost dependability, enhance customer satisfaction, and streamline operations.
FREMONT, CA: “While global power operators are experiencing unprecedented demands, we are also on the precipice of technological advances that will forever change how we and our customers work. The digital revolution is generating so much valuable data that our Ovation Automation Platform with GenAI can harvest to create accessible, usable insights to inform smarter and more timely action,” says Bob Yeager, president of Emersons' power and water business.
Emerson, a global automation and technology leader, delivers transformative generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) as part of its Ovation„¢ 4.0 Automation Platform. GenAI will enhance data to inform decisions, helping power and water companies accelerate growth, improve efficiencies, and drive more resilient, predictive, and effective operations.
Due to the digital transformation of the power and water industries, utilities and municipalities now have access to a wealth of production, reliability, safety, and sustainability data for their operations; however, a large portion of this data needs to be more cohesive and cohesive. Operators need a modern, future-proof computing environment to confidently mine large and complex data sets and leverage the power of GenAI for better, more efficient operational insights.
“Today, most forward-thinking power and water companies will use our new Ovation 4.0 Automation Platform with GenAI to help sort through their vast amounts of data. By contextualizing data from the intelligent field, edge and cloud to make better, safer decisions, this technology will enable what we call Boundless Automation„¢ "breaking down data silos to liberate data and unleash the power of software,” adds Yeager.
With its integrated and dedicated GenAI deployment, trained on a safe foundation of knowledge-based data, Emerson's Ovation 4.0 Automation Platform will augment workforce expertise and cognitive processes to improve productivity through task prioritization and automation. With its AI-powered features, the new platform will assist in empowering the workforce.
AI assistants will collaborate with operators of all skill levels to improve workflows for more efficient operations, identify problems, and recommend or carry out corrective measures to restore normal, safe operating conditions.
AI will operate with operators at centralized control centers to monitor various assets remotely. These centers will function as autonomous guardians, offering prescriptive guidance to aid information processing and decision support. By anticipating maintenance needs, the Ovation GenAI assistant will lessen the effects of common reliability problems like malfunctioning sensors, mechanical wear, temperature swings, and pressure variations.
AI models trained on historical plant-specific operations and maintenance, combined with real-time digital twin simulation, will detect abnormal conditions and determine how and why processes deviate from baseline operations. The platform will provide advanced situational awareness that enhances decision-making from power generation to delivery, leading to increased grid stability. AI-assisted predictive maintenance will make this possible.
